Solana Network Stands Firm Despite Foundation’s Public RPCs Going Offline
The Solana Foundation recently experienced a bug in their Validator client’s test release 1.14, causing their Remote Procedure Call (RPC) endpoints to go offline. Despite this, the network remains functional, as private RPCs from firms like QuickNode, Alchemy, and Triton are still available for use.
Network Status
Solana Status, the official platform for the blockchain, released an announcement about the bug, urging those operating on the node to switch to version 1.13. According to Austin Federa, Head of Strategy & Communications at the Solana Foundation, the bug only affected nodes operated by the Foundation. Private providers, however, are still working as normal.
This is a good sign for the network, considering it had 14 outages that lasted 4 days and 12 hours in total in 2022. The last outage in October 2022 was caused by an issue with a node, making the community worry about the network’s viability.
Solana’s 2023 Comeback
The start of 2023 has been quite successful for the layer1 blockchain. The daily addresses of Solana beat that of Ethereum, Polygon, and other major rivals on January 5, according to data from Artemis.
The native token, SOL, has also seen its value increase by 37% in the past week, trading for $13.65 as of press time. This is a huge improvement from the $8 it was trading for in the last weeks of 2022. The digital asset has also risen to the 14th largest digital asset by market cap as of press time.
On top of all this, the Solana community has been rallying around a new memecoin called Bonk Inu. This token has seen a massive increase of over 1000% in the first week of 2023, and it has become the talk of the network. Bonk Inu claims to represent “the best of Solana.”

The Solana network is on the rise, and the recent bug with the Foundation’s RPCs only seems to have been a minor setback. With its native token SOL exceeding expectations, and the Bonk Inu memecoin taking the network by storm, it looks like Solana is set for a great 2023.
